13 Days Imperial Cities and Desert from Marrakech

Day 1: Airport > Marrakech

Pick-up at the airport at the arrival time of your flight and accommodation at your riad. Free time to get in touch with the place. Night and accommodation in a riad with breakfast.

Day 2: Marrakech > Casablanca > Rabat

Breakfast in the riad and we continue our way to Casablanca.
Free time to visit the famous Hassan II mosque, it is one of the highest temples in the world and one of the few that allows non-Muslim tourists to visit. We continue to Rabat: known as the City of Gardens. It is the administrative capital of Morocco. It is both a modern and traditional city, a dynamic mix of ancient and modern culture. Day 3 : Raba > Asilah

After breakfast, we will leave for the beautiful city of Asilah. But before departure we will visit The Oudaya Kasbah and the Mausoleum where the kings are buried and then we hit the road through Kenitra to join the city of Asilah. Upon arrival in Asilah, you will have free time to walk through its small medina and enjoy its old port. We will spend the night in Asilah in a riad with breakfast.

Day 4: Asilah > Tanger > Chefchaouen

After breakfast, we will depart for the beautiful city of Chefchaouen, the fortress of the Rif mountains and the most beautiful city in Morocco. On the way, you will enjoy some of the most beautiful landscapes of northern Morocco through the city of Tangier, where we will visit the beautiful Achakar beach and the famous Herculus Cave, then we will continue through the Rif mountains, passing through the beautiful city of Tetouan. Upon arrival in Chefchaouen, you will have free time to walk through its small medina, Overnight in a riad.

Day 5: Chefchaoun > Volubilis > Meknes > Fez

Breakfast and free time to take a walk around the AZUL town before leaving for the beautiful Roman ruins of VOLUBILIS, where we will make a stop to visit them. We will continue to the imperial city of MEKNES, where we will take the interesting guided tour of the city, linked to the name of Moulay Ismail, the great sultan of the Alouite dynasty. Visit of the city’s walled Medina, the Bab Mansour gate and the Hedim square. After the visit we will leave for FES. Transfer to our riad, accommodation in riad.

Day 6: Visit of the City of Fez

After breakfast at the Riad, we begin our guided tour of the new part of the city, where we approach the royal palace, the Jewish quarter (Mellah), then we will go to a viewpoint where we can observe the entire medina from the South Tower and the few mosques. Then we will have to walk through the medina, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Its labyrinthine streets structured by guilds of potters, dyers, etc., the bustle of its people will transport you centuries ago. We will notice that it is a medieval city and that time has stopped in the clock “La Magana Bounania” 1200 years after its construction. A marvel! Night and accommodation in Riad.

Day 7: Fez > Ifran > Midelt > Valle de ziz > Merzouga

We head south to cross the Middle Atlas Mountains until we reach Ifrane, known as Moroccan Switzerland due to its great resemblance to that country. One of the animals that formerly lived here was the Atlas lion, which is why it has become the symbol of the city and to which a stone statue has been dedicated in the center of it. We will take the opportunity to stop and take some photos. We will cross the famous cedar forests and we will be able to admire the Great Gouraud Cedar, the largest ancient cedar in the region and also feed the hundreds of Gibraltar monkeys that live in the area. Lunch in Midelt and from here the land becomes arid and full of spectacular geological formations and deep green valleys, such as the Ziz Valley. We will begin to see the typical adobe architecture, palm trees, some distant Kasbahs… we are at the gates of the desert. After an hour we arrive at the impressive Dunes of Merzouga and after the hospitality tea, we will leave our suitcases and get ready with the necessary things to leave for the desert in the best 4×4: the dromedaries who will take us to the camp in the heart of the Sahara, but before arriving we will stop to enjoy the impressive sunset from the dunes and take photographs. Once at the camp they will receive us and accommodate us in the respective haimas. And we will begin to enjoy the immensity and tranquility of the desert. After dinner we will sing and dance by the campfire to the rhythm of Berber drums. Dinner and accommodation in tents.

Day 8: Merzouga > Nomadic Families > Pueblo de khamlia > Merzouga

We will see the sunrise over a sea of ​​dunes. Afterwards we will return by camel to the hotel. After breakfast and a shower we will go out to visit Khamlia, the ‘black village’, so called because its inhabitants are descendants of the ancient slave trade that came from the Sudan. They are excellent musicians and have made this art their way of life. With them we will enjoy a small Gnawa music concert. We will return to the 4×4 to travel one of the tracks used in the Paris-Dakar Rally, visiting the Khol mines and the remains of a French and Berber village. We will make a panoramic stop to contemplate the sand desert that encompasses the Erg Chebbi as a whole. We will visit some desert nomads in the process of sedentary lifestyle with whom we can drink tea and learn better about their way of life. Return to the hotel. Free afternoon and night in a hotel in the desert.

Day 9: Merzouga > Rissani > Erfoud > Gargantas de todra > Valle de dades.

After breakfast, we will go to Rissani, known for its souk, currently little frequented by tourists, being one of the most authentic markets in the south, where you can discover the truest and most unknown Morocco, as we can even find a parking lot for donkeys and nomads who come to stock up Once we visit Rissani, we will go to the Todra Gorges, famous for its very high rock walls where climbers from all over the world come to practice climbing. We will visit the Todra Gorges and continue towards the Dades Valley. Arrival in the Dades Valley and overnight in a charming hotel.

Day 10: Dades Valley > Valley of Roses > Ouarzazate.

After breakfast, we will go to the Valley of Roses and the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs. We will discover the kasbahs that are located in the middle of this valley and then we will go to Ouarzazate, also known as the Hollywood of Morocco for the numerous internationally famous films that are recorded in its studios. Transfer to the hotel and overnight in a riad with dinner and breakfast.

Day 11: Ouarzazate > Ait ben haddou > Marrakech.

After breakfast, we will visit the Kasbah of Taourirt and after 25 km of road we will visit Ait Ben Haddou, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, famous for being the setting for blockbuster films such as the Oscar-winning Lawrence of Arabia, The Sheltering Sky. or Babel. We will follow the road that, crossing the Tichka port, will lead us back to the Red City, Marrakech. Arrival at the hotel. Free afternoon and night in a charming riad.

Day 12: Visit of Marrakech.

Breakfast in your riad and cultural visit of the city of Marrakech with a guide to discover its fascinating history through the famous Koutoubia (12th century), the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs (16th century) and lunch in a typical restaurant in the Medina. Free afternoon to enjoy the Souks and the famous Jmaa El Fna square, its outdoor activities: jugglers, musicians, fakirs, snake charmers, minstrels… that will awaken all your senses, with their multiple sounds, aromas, flavors and colors that characterize it. Day 13: Marrakech > Airport
