8 Days Casablanca tour to Chefchaouen and Desert

Day 1: Casablanca Airport > Rabat

Pick up at Casablanca airport. We will visit the Hassan II Mosque which is located on Boulevard Sidi and is the tallest temple in Africa and the second largest in the world. We will leave for Rabat. Day 2: Rabat > Ouazzane > Chefchaouen

Day 3: Chefchaouen > Volubilis > Fez

After breakfast we will go to visit the city of Chefchaouen, with its narrow and intense blue streets. Then we will continue to Volubilis, an ancient Roman city, currently the holy city of Morocco. The archaeological site of Volubilis is possibly the best preserved Roman site in this area of ​​North Africa. It was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1997. We will then continue to the city of Fez. Accommodation with breakfast.

Day 4: Visit of the medina of Fez

After a delicious breakfast at the Riad, we begin our guided tour of the new part of the city of Fez, where we approach the Royal Palace, Jewish Quarter (Mellah), then we will go to a viewpoint where we can observe the entire medina from the South Tower and a few Mosques. Then we will have to walk through the medina, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. You will walk through its winding streets where the only means of transportation for cargo are donkeys. You will see up close the work of potters, forgers, tanners, loom artisans, etc., the bustle of its people will transport us centuries ago. You will find what is considered the oldest university in the world in which the study of Arabic and religion are its essence, as well as buildings so beautiful that you would never think they were in the middle of that world. Day 5: Fez > Erfoud > Merzouga

Breakfast in your riad and departure to the desert. passing through the cedar forests of Azrou and the landscapes of the Middle Atlas mountains. Stop for lunch and continue touring the Ziz Valley: What was originally just a river that timidly eroded the rock of the mountains, is today an immense palm grove more than 20 kilometers long, and with more than 18,000 palm trees. We access the desert through the town of Erfoud, you can receive a guided tour of the fossil cooperative to discover the secrets of stone processing from extraction to obtaining the product. At this point we leave the asphalt behind to take the dirt track along the 50 km that will lead us to our final destination: the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Upon arrival at the hotel in the desert, our dromedaries await us to depart on an hour and a half route, making our way through dunes, until we reach the heart of the desert to contemplate the beautiful sunset. Surrounded by the Great Dune, and enjoying the music of the drums, dinner and Moroccan tea, you will be able to contemplate the immense sky of stars and sleep in tents.

Day 6: Merzouga > Todra > Dades Valley

We will wake up early in the morning, to be able to contemplate another great spectacle among the dunes of the Moroccan Sahara: the sunrise. Once again you will climb on your camels to take another route back to the hotel. After a hearty breakfast and shower, we continued on our way to Rissani. We will walk through what is known as the most authentic and traditional souk in the area, and one of the largest in the south of the country, where all types of artisan products, food and animals are traded. We continue to the Todra Gorges, north of Tinghir, where you can take a pleasant walk through its imposing canyon walls more than 200 meters high to the source of the Todra River. We finish the day arriving at the Dades Valley. Free time to walk through the valley gardens. Accommodation in the Dades Valley and dinner at the hotel.

Day 7: Dades Valley > Ait Ben Haddou > Marrakech

Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Marrakech. On the way we will cross the Valley of Roses and the city of Ouarzazate. Spectacular landscape that will take us to the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, famous for being the setting for more than twenty films, such as “Babel”, “Gladiator”, “Lawrence of Arabia”… Free visit to this impressive fortified town, where you can stroll through the streets contemplating the numerous craft shops (painting with spices, jewelry, carpets) until reaching the granary that crowns the kasbah. We will continue to Marrakech, on the way we will cross the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the port of Tizi n’Tichka, the highest road point in the country (2260m), making our way among numerous villages of Berber nomads that inhabit the mountains. Day 8: Marrakech > Airport
