2 days excrusion to the Zagoras Dessert From Marrakech
Day 1: Marrakech > Ouarzazate > Zagora
Morning departure from Marrakech, heading toward Zagora along a route that follows the Draa Valley. Along the way, we’ll cross the High Atlas Mountains, passing through the Tizi n’Tichka pass, the highest road point in the country (2260m), as we make our way through numerous Berber nomadic villages scattered throughout the mountains. We continue south, crossing a part of the Anti-Atlas through the Tizi N’Tnifift pass (1710m) and the village of Ait Saoun, an ancient caravan route for traders coming from the Sahara’s «Timbuktu,» until we reach the first administrative center, the village of Agdz. Passing through lunar landscapes of the pre-Sahara, we will finally arrive in Zagora, a small town and the native region of the Saadian dynasty (Saadian Tombs in Marrakech) that ruled Morocco in the 17th century. In Zagora, we will switch from the car to camels, which will take us to the tent camp, where we will watch the sunset, enjoy dinner, and spend the night under the starry sky.
