10 Days from Casablanca to the South of Morocco

Day 1: Airport > Casablanca > Rabat

Picked up at the Casablanca airport upon the arrival of your flight, we leave for the economic capital of Morocco to visit its famous Hassan II mosque, it is the tallest temple in the world and the third largest mosque. You will be surprised by the beauty of its architecture. Once this visit is over, we leave for the Capital and Imperial City of Rabat. We will visit the Hassan Tower, the minaret of what was planned to be a mosque but upon the death of the Sultan (1199) the works were suspended, leaving only the tower. In front of the tower is the Mausoleum of King Mohamed V, grandfather of the current king (Mohamed VI) and two of his sons. Imposing not because of its size but because of its classic Arab-Andalusian style within traditional Moroccan art. You will also be able to visit the Kasbah of Oudajas where you may witness the coexistence between Arabs, Europeans and Jews. Day 2: Rabat > Chefchaouen

Breakfast. This day we head towards one of the most picturesque cities, Chefchaouen (Chaouen), known as the Blue Pearl of Morocco. A mountain village in the heart of the Rif, noted for its Andalusian architecture of whitewashed houses in white and indigo blue. Location not only for videos of international artists but also for fashion magazines. We will visit the medina to learn about its historical-cultural heritage, and we will enjoy its light, its streets, its picturesque Uta el Hammam square, the Rass-el Maa Waterfall and of course, the color of its shops full of crafts and perhaps drink a mint tea on the terrace of a cafe, watching people as they come and go in a relaxed manner, or getting lost in the medina without knowing if you are in the sky or in the sea, gradually discovering every corner worth visiting. photography. Day 3: Chefchaouen > Volubilis > Meknes > Fez

We leave the blue of Chaouen and head towards Fez, one of the Imperial cities that is proud to have the oldest university in the world. Before arriving in Fez we will stop to visit the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a beauty of its kind and named by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site. We will also be able to see a panoramic view of Moulay Idriss, the holy city where we will have lunch and in the afternoon we will arrive in Fez to enjoy the sunset while visiting the walls and gates of its medina or simply drinking welcome tea from the terrace. Day 4: Fez Visit of the Medina and Monuments of Fez

After a delicious breakfast at the Riad, we begin our guided tour of the new part of the city of Fez, where we approach the Royal Palace, Jewish Quarter (Mellah), then we will go to a viewpoint where we can observe the entire medina from the South Tower and a few Mosques. Then we will have to walk through the medina, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. You will walk through its winding streets where the only means of transportation for cargo are donkeys. You will see up close the work of potters, forgers, tanners, loom artisans, etc., the bustle of its people will transport us centuries ago. You will find what is considered the oldest university in the world in which the study of Arabic and religion are its essence, as well as buildings so beautiful that you would never think they were in the middle of that world. Day 5: Fez > Ifrane > Azrou > Midelt > Ziz Valley > Arfoud > Merzouga

We head south to cross the Middle Atlas Mountains until we reach Ifrane, known as Moroccan Switzerland due to its great resemblance to that country. One of the animals that formerly lived here was the Atlas lion, which is why it has become the symbol of the city and to which a stone statue has been dedicated in the center of it. We will take the opportunity to stop and take some photos. We will cross the famous cedar forests and we will be able to admire the Great Gouraud Cedar, the largest ancient cedar in the region and also feed the hundreds of Gibraltar monkeys that live in the area. Lunch in Midelt and from here the land becomes arid and full of spectacular geological formations and deep green valleys, such as the Ziz Valley. We will begin to see the typical adobe architecture, palm trees, some distant Kasbahs… we are at the gates of the desert. After an hour we arrive at the impressive Dunes of Merzouga and after the hospitality tea, we will leave our suitcases and get ready with the necessary things to leave for the desert in the best 4×4: the dromedaries who will take us to the camp in the heart of the Sahara, but before arriving we will stop to enjoy the impressive sunset from the dunes and take photographs. Once at the camp they will receive us and accommodate us in the respective haimas. And we will begin to enjoy the immensity and tranquility of the desert. After dinner we will sing and dance by the campfire to the rhythm of Berber drums. Dinner and accommodation in a tent.

Day 6: Merzouga > Khamlia Village > Erg Chebbi desert

We will see the sunrise over a sea of ​​dunes. Afterwards we will return by camel to the hotel. After breakfast and a shower we will go out to visit Khamlia, the ‘black village’, so called because its inhabitants are descendants of the ancient slave trade that came from the Sudan. They are excellent musicians and have made this art their way of life. With them we will enjoy a small Gnawa music concert. We will return to the 4×4 to travel one of the tracks used in the Paris-Dakar Rally, visiting the Khol mines and the remains of a French and Berber village. We will make a panoramic stop to contemplate the sand desert that encompasses the Erg Chebbi as a whole. We will visit some desert nomads in the process of sedentary lifestyle with whom we can drink tea and learn more about their way of life. Return to the hotel. Day 7: Merzouga > Rissani > Todra Gorges > Dades Valley

After breakfast, we will go to Rissani, known for its souk, currently little frequented by tourists, being one of the most authentic markets in the south, where you can discover the truest and most unknown Morocco, as we can even find a parking lot for donkeys and nomads who come to stock up Once we visit Rissani, we will go to the Todra Gorges, famous for its very high rock walls where climbers from all over the world come to practice climbing. We will visit the Todra Gorges and continue towards the Dades Valley. Arrival in the Dades Valley and overnight in a charming hotel.

Day 8: Dades Valley > Rose Valley > Ouarzazate > Ait Ben Haddou > Marrakech

Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Marrakech. On the way we will cross the Valley of Roses and the city of Ouarzazate. Spectacular landscape that will take us to the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, famous for being the setting for more than twenty films, such as “Babel”, “Gladiator”, “Lawrence”. of Arabia”… Free visit of this impressive fortified town, where you can wander around contemplating the numerous craft shops (painting with spices, jewelry, carpets) until you reach the granary that crowns the kasbah.
